Port Chester police officers reported to the Stop & Shop at 25 Waterfront Pl. after receiving a report of a shoplifter on Tuesday, Nov. 12.

According to the police report, a store manager witnessed Edwin Marroquin Rivera walk out of the building without paying for an $11 six-pack of Mike’s Hard Lemonade.

The homeless man allegedly ignored the employee when he was requested to stop and left the parking lot in the direction of North Main Street. Officers were provided with Marroquin Rivera’s description and located him at 4:50 p.m. near the intersection of North Main Street and Westchester Avenue. He allegedly had the drinks on him.

The 41-year-old allegedly told officers he had paid for the drinks but was unable to provide them with a receipt. Marroquin Rivera was arrested after an employee confirmed him as the alleged thief.

He was charged with petit larceny, a misdemeanor.
