While stopped at the intersection of Bush Avenue and Poningo Street, a Port Chester police officer allegedly witnessed the driver of a red pickup truck perform an illegal U-turn on Friday, Sept. 27.

The officer performed a traffic stop at 9 p.m. When the driver, Sergio Gonzales Valdovinos, was searching for his documents, the police say they spotted several plastic bags often used to store drugs in the glove compartment.

According to the police report, the 44-year-old was asked to step out of the car and, as he did, an officer saw a plastic tube associated with inhaling cocaine. As officers were searching his truck, Gonzales Valdovinos allegedly surrendered a small bag of cocaine, leading to his arrest.

The 148 Hobart Ave. resident was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a misdemeanor, and received an infraction for driving on the left side of the pavement markings.
