The Blind Brook Trojans volleyball team has become one of the staples of the Blind Brook fall athletics program with back-to-back runs at section finals the past two years, and they are looking to make it a third consecutive year with another win at these finals. Along with two new milestones for players on the Blind Brook team, they are still dominating in their games with only one loss during the season. In addition, they are still ranked number one in Class B, and if they hold onto this spot, they will be slated to play easier matchups bringing them back to yet another section final and another section title.

In two of their recent games this season, two players have reached major milestones in their high school career. Fernanda Julian had 20 assists which completed her 1,500 career assists on Sept. 25 in their game against Briarcliff. This feat set the record for most assists by a setter in Blind Brook High School history. Their Sept. 30 game was another one for the record books when Ella Rosenfeld accomplished the 500 kills milestone with 11 kills in that game. Both players have made it clear to the section that they should be feared both as individuals and as a team. The Blind Brook team has two hitters, the other being Oriah Rosenfeld, who have now surpassed 500 kills. The Trojans cannot be doubted when it comes to their superiority as a team.

Blind Brook has only one loss this season that came at their homecoming game against Valhalla which was set up to be a telling contest with the two teams tied for first in the class at the time; this game was the tiebreaker. As Blind Brook does every homecoming, the seniors were honored with a rose ceremony including their families, their coach and the athletic director to thank them for their dedication to the sport. The three seniors honored in this game were Madeline Hirsch, Fernanda Julian and Maria Leyva. All three have given multiple years to this team,  and the program will be sad to see them graduate as they have been key to the Trojans’ success.

They unfortunately did end up losing this game 3-1. The set scores were not reported. In the game Julian had 28 assists, Ella Rosenfeld had 14 kills and four blocks, Oriah Rosenfeld had 15 kills, Georgianna Haas had five digs and Leyva had 10 digs.

After this contest, the Trojans went on to realize two more wins against Sleepy Hollow and Rye Neck, one of their league opponents. They won both games 3-0, and the total statistics for the two games were Julian with combined 72 assists, Ella Rosenfeld with a combined 25 kills and 12 blocks, Oriah Rosenfeld with 35 kills, Leyva with a combined 20 digs and Haas with four kills and three digs.

Their next game was Monday, Oct. 7 when they played Pleasantville, another one of their league opponents. They won this game unsurprisingly 3-0 with the set scores of 25-10, 25-19 and 25-18. Julian had 26 assists, Ella Rosenfeld had 11 kills, Oriah Rosenfeld had nine kills and Tanisha Venkatapur had four kills.

This team has only six games left to play against six tough opponents, one of which is Valhalla, the only team Blind Brook has lost to this season. Their record for the season is 11 wins and one loss which gives them the highest win percentage in the league by a small margin. To keep their spot, they will have to win most if not all their final games. They will play Byram Hills at home on Tuesday, Oct. 15 at 4:30 p.m. and the highly anticipated rematch against Valhalla away on Thursday, Oct. 17 at 6:45 p.m., which is later than they would typically play.
