Reports of a larceny in progress brought Port Chester police officers to the Stop & Shop at 25 Waterfront Pl. on Monday, Oct. 21.

When officers arrived at 6:35 p.m., they met with the store’s loss prevention specialist and the suspect, Tracy Lighty, outside the building. The worker alleged Lighty and another man entered the store and placed a variety of merchandise into reusable bags.

According to the police report, the men entered the self-checkout lanes and left after only paying for a handful of the items. Lighty, 56, was stopped outside the store, but the other suspect left the area before police arrived.

The 180 Grace Church St. resident was charged with petit larceny, a misdemeanor. The second man is still at large.
