Two out-of-towners charged

Last week, two out-of-towners were arrested for shoplifting and resisting arrest.
*Port Chester police officers were called to the Target at 495 Boston Post Rd. after receiving a call about a shoplifter on Monday, Oct. 21.
Officers arrived at the store at 6:56 p.m. and met with an employee who had stopped Guadalupe Vasquez Avila outside. The employee alleged the 20-year-old woman put $315 worth of merchandise into a shopping cart before leaving without paying for the goods.
The Mamaroneck resident was charged with petit larceny, a misdemeanor.
*A Mount Vernon man was arrested by Port Chester police officers for allegedly blocking traffic on Thursday, Oct. 24.
Officers reported to the intersection of Boston Post Road and South Regent Street and allegedly witnessed Jordan Gardner walk into the road, blocking traffic, at 4:37 p.m. Officers recognized him from an incident earlier in the day, according to the police report, where he had been shouting at cars and pedestrians on North Main Street.
When officers moved to arrest the 29-year-old, he allegedly grabbed a nearby fence to block the use of handcuffs. According to the police report, officers were able to restrain Gardner, but had to carry him into the police car as he refused to walk.
He was charged with resisting arrest, a misdemeanor, and disorderly conduct, a violation.
