Beef thief arrested

A homeless man was arrested by Port Chester police officers on Saturday, Aug. 31, after he allegedly stole $90 worth of meat from the Stop & Shop at 25 Waterfront Pl.
According to the police report, an officer driving en route to the store spotted an employee pointing towards Fernando Gavlan-Trujillo as he was walking down Traverse Avenue.
The 57-year-old had allegedly stashed three packages of beef into a plastic bag before leaving the store without stopping to pay at 10:24 a.m.
Gavlan-Trujillo was charged with petit larceny, a misdemeanor.
