A resident of 234 William St. was arrested by Port Chester police officers on Wednesday, Aug. 28, after he allegedly stole $377 worth of merchandise from the Marshalls at 20 Waterfront Pl.

Officers reported to the store at 3:01 p.m. to find the suspect, Julio Lara, had been detained by the loss prevention specialist.

The employee alleged the 35-year-old had been spotted through security cameras taking clothing off racks and rolling them up to fit into his backpack. He allegedly walked past all points of sale without paying.

Lara was stopped as he exited the store and held until officers arrived. He was charged with petit larceny, a misdemeanor.
