Homeless man steals booze

Port Chester police officers reported to the Stop & Shop at 25 Waterfront Pl. after an employee allegedly witnessed a homeless man steal a case of beer on Sunday, Sept. 1.
While approaching the South Main Street entrance of the parking structure, an officer was flagged down by a store employee who pointed towards Julio Martinez Melchor as the alleged thief.
The 41-year-old allegedly admitted to stealing the 24-pack of Budweiser, claiming it was because he didn’t have his ID with him.
Martinez Melchor was charged with petit larceny, a misdemeanor.
