While patrolling Bush Avenue on Thursday, Aug. 29, a Port Chester police officer allegedly spotted a driver turn onto Poningo Street without using a turn signal and pulled them over at 7:41 p.m.
Police claim that while speaking with the driver, they saw Christopher Nichols sitting in the back seat without wearing a seat belt.
According to the police report, while running a routine background check on the 52-year-old to issue a ticket, officers discovered there was an active warrant out for his arrest issued in Poughkeepsie. Nichols was detained, and while searching him the police allegedly found a plastic bag containing crack cocaine in his sock and a crack pipe in a pair of shorts he had been wearing under his pants.
The 1 Jenna Way, Rye Brook, resident was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fifth degree, a misdemeanor, and received an infraction for the seat belt violation.
