Last week, three out-of-towners were arrested for trespassing and robbing a FedEx delivery driver.

*A 25-year-old man was arrested by the Rye Brook police, with assistance from Port Chester police officers, on Saturday, Sept. 7, after he allegedly trespassed into a home on Neuton Avenue.

According to Rye Brook Police Lieutenant J. Arnold, the resident of the home reported seeing an unfamiliar man knocking at the door at 1:06 p.m. Shortly afterward, they allegedly saw Eduardo Martinez in their living room.

After the resident spotted them, Martinez fled the scene.

Officers were provided with a description of the suspect, who was found by Port Chester police officers on New Broad Street.

The Mamaroneck resident was detained until Rye Brook police officers arrived.

Martinez was charged with criminal trespassing in the second degree, a misdemeanor.

*Two men from the Bronx were arrested on Monday, Sept. 9, for allegedly robbing a FedEx driver of packages they were delivering.

Port Chester police officers reported to Bulkley Avenue after the FedEx driver reported the crime at 12:54 p.m. Diovanny Martinez, one of the suspects, had allegedly approached him on his route to claim a package they were in the process of delivering. As the driver was telling him the box could not be released unless presented with a valid ID, another man, Michael Canela, allegedly ran up from behind and forcibly took it.

A nearby tow truck driver witnessed the incident and followed the suspects as they drove off in a grey Honda Civic towards Boston Post Road. According to the police report, when the man attempted to confront them near High Street, Canela flashed a black handgun.

The suspects exited Port Chester in the direction of I-287.

Port Chester police notified Westchester County Police officers of the incident, providing them with the license plate number and description of the vehicle. A patrolling county officer allegedly spotted a car that fit the bill on the Hutchinson River Parkway and began a pursuit.

The officer managed to attach a StarChase tag onto the Honda Civic, allowing them to track the vehicle via GPS and avoid a high-speed chase. Police claim the men threw several boxes out the window as they made their way onto I-87. Officers were able to block the car off when they attempted to exit into Ardsley.

According to the police report, officers used a Taser to incapacitate Martinez, 25, after he attempted to flee on foot.

Canela, 32, was arrested without incident.

The boxes thrown from the car were recovered and discovered to be the contents of the stolen package, according to the police report. Officers were unable to find the gun Canela allegedly brandished.

Both men were charged with robbery in the second degree, a felony. Canela was also charged with menacing in the second degree, a misdemeanor.
