Letter: Privileges are not for those here illegally

I would like to address the letter thread that was started in the opinion section of your May 17 issue. This thread was kicked off by a letter from a Mr. Mike Tee of Port Chester, objecting to giving driving licenses to illegal aliens.

Letter: B.B. school board requests retraction

One year ago today, two Blind Brook students left the Senior Prom early, explicitly violating school regulations designed to protect students on prom night.

Letter: Mr. Tee: Misinformed and unaware

I have worked for 20 years with Latino families in our community of Port Chester. A few years ago, I wrote a letter to answer a person who wrote a letter to the editor about immigrants, but I did not call him a racist.

Letter: Seniors should not have to pay every year for a beach pass

I got a senior citizen’s permit for Rye Town Park/Oakland Beach in 2018 and I was told it was a lifetime pass.

Letter: Port Chester village board must listen to residents

Last week, I posted the following on Facebook and was surprised that it disappeared shortly after with just one comment from Silvio Buccieri. It was a mystery to me since I want the Board of Trustees (BOT) and the people of Port Chester to read it, so I decided to …

Dick Hubert’s Worldview: Blind Brook’s, and the Nation’s, ‘504’ problem: A national cheating scandal

Blind Brook parents. You have a problem. And you are not alone. In upper income school districts across the country, parents are exerting a form of privilege which is hurting their children and complicating the perceived American dream of a meritocracy—that the smartest and best students, regardless of background, rise …

Letter: Legislation is too restrictive

I have just read with some alarm the article in the Journal News about texting while crossing streets. While a texting ban might not be so bad, the legislation appears to extend it to any use of an electronic device while crossing the street.

Letter: If you read something, say something

I was heartened to see the two letters in last week’s issue of the Westmore News, one from local clergy and another from local residents, calling out the hateful letter that ran two weeks ago.

Letter: Looking for family of Bernard J. Reilly

I am looking for any family members of Bernard J. Reilly who may still be in the Port Chester area. Mr. Reilly was the check flight engineer on the inaugural flight of the Pan American 747 on Jan. 22, 1970 from JFK to London.

Letter: Thanks for publishing column on plight of the Venezuelan people

A short note to thank you for publishing Richard Hubert’s article “Dick Hubert’s Worldview: A Humanitarian Disaster Affecting Our Neighbors.”

Letter: Thank you from Chrissie Onofrio Thank you to all of the voters who came out on May 21 for the Port Chester School Budget and Board of Education Election.

Thank you to all of the voters who came out on May 21 for the Port Chester School Budget and Board of Education Election.

Letter: I have faith in Chrissie Onofrio

While my husband I were in Florida on vacation, we kept up with what was going on in Port Chester through the Westmore News. I read with great interest a letter written by Chrissie Onofrio announcing her intention to run for the Board of Education.

Dick Hubert’s Worldview: A humanitarian disaster affecting our neighbors

For Carolina and Alejandro Azuaje of Rye Brook, longtime U.S. citizens with close family ties to their native Venezuela, the news these days, both in the national U.S. media and in their emails, What’s App calls and messages from family and friends living under the regime of determined Socialist President …

Letter: Calling out bigotry

Individuals can disagree for politically partisan or non-political reasons on the advisability of providing drivers’ licenses to undocumented residents.

Letter: Local clergy respond to racism and stereotyping

As local clergy of Rye Town, we feel the need to respond to the letter to the editor last week.
