During a kindergarten literacy lesson at John F. Kennedy Elementary School in December 2022, Valentina Alvarez Espinol and Aiden Ortega select animal books to read. The Port Chester School District was awarded a $2.4 million RECOVS grant from the State of New York to address pandemic-related learning loss, money that administrators say will likely be used to enhance literacy.
