Rye Town teens celebrate Juneteenth by leading tours through historic cemetery

Juneteenth commemorates the day the last slaves in the U.S. were freed in Galveston, Texas, on June 19, 1865, two years after President Abraham Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation was issued. It took 156 years, until June 17, 2021, for President Joe Biden to declare Juneteenth a federal holiday.
