Beverly Sherrid, the chairwoman of Port Chester Immigration Defense (PCID), said while some people may be apprehensive to approach or call the police for help, there are few groups more so than Hispanic immigrants. “Some people won’t report a crime, even if they’re a victim of one, because they’re afraid their immigration status may get reported,” she said.
