Dave Thomas, one of the leading voices behind preserving and researching Rye Town’s African American Cemetery, speaks on how a recently completed ground penetrating radar study identified potential unmarked graves. During the annual Memorial Day ceremony there on Saturday, May 25, he spoke on the importance of retaining history for the future.

Dave Thomas has spent the last 15 years as a warden of the past. As the founder and president of the Friends of the African American Cemetery, the Port Chester resident has put in a considerable amount of effort to restore the plot nestled adjacent to the Greenwood Union Cemetery in Rye.
