Cookies make the holidays complete
December 14, 2023 at 1:15 a.m.
Slow and steady, and with strict focus, Ridge Street Elementary School fourth-grader Reese Wolf drizzles blue frosting onto a baked good in front of her in her school’s cafetorium on Wednesday, Dec. 13. She’s one of around 40 pupils enjoying the holidays with a cookie decorating night hosted by the Blind Brook PTA.

Fourth-graders John Gasparini (left), Alan Waisburg and Jake Klausman have some nice chatter and sing goofy songs as they spread frosting across all the baked goods in their kit. The cookies and decorating instructions were provided by Nora’s Ovenworks, a bakery based in Stamford, Conn.

Some students, such as Shyla Schroeder, take their time to make their cookies look as refined as possible. The fifth-grader carefully writes out the word “love” on a cookie, so she can add it to her pile of other elegantly decorated treats.

Oops! Fourth-grader Roxanna Zacharoulis accidentally spills too many sprinkles on her freshly frosted cookie. But that’s OK, a little extra color has never hurt anybody.
